Dementia & Memory Care
Care that sees the person, not just the diagnosis
Care plans built around the individual
From a few hours to 24 hour care
A diagnosis does not define the person
Every person experiences memory loss differently
A diagnosis can feel overwhelming for individuals and their families. It gives medical information, but it does not tell you who someone is. Routines, personality, communication style, strengths and challenges are unique to each person.
That is why our approach to dementia care begins with getting to know the person, not only the diagnosis.
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Lewy body dementia
- Vascular dementia
- Parkinson’s disease
- Other forms of cognitive impairment
- Families facing a new diagnosis
Care tailored to the individual
No one-size-fits-all approach
We build a personalized care plan around each client’s daily routines, abilities, preferences and changing needs. Our caregivers take the time to learn:
Preferred daily routines
The rhythm of a day that feels familiar and right.
Communication style
How your loved one talks, listens and likes to be spoken to.
Personal history and interests
The stories, work, family and passions that make them who they are.
What brings comfort and joy
The activities and moments that lift their mood.
Triggers for anxiety or confusion
What can unsettle them, so caregivers can steer around it.
What helps them feel calm and safe
The techniques and approaches that bring reassurance.
Caregiver preparation
Trained for the role, guided by the individual
All Cura caregivers receive training appropriate to their role and responsibilities.
Qualified caregivers
Our team includes Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) as well as caregivers who have completed Connecticut’s required Personal Care Assistant (PCA) training and competency requirements.
Client-specific guidance
Caregivers learn each individual’s routines, preferences, communication style and care needs before services start. As needs change, care plans and caregiver support change with them.
Supporting families
Dementia affects the whole family
Our caregivers do more than help with daily activities.
However much support is needed
