Susan Stout, End-of-Life Doula

Why she does this work

Preparing ahead is a gift to the people we love

Susan believes that we cannot practice dying, only prepare for it. A terminal diagnosis, or growing frailty, can feel lonely, and she steps into that space to hold a hand, talk, plan and make sure wishes are honored at every step.

She learned how to do this through her training and through her own life.

We don’t get to practice dying, we can only prepare for it.

What is an end-of-life doula?

Human support alongside medical care

An end-of-life doula is a trained, experienced, non-medical professional who offers emotional, practical, educational and compassionate support before, during and after death. The focus is the human experience, helping people prepare, communicate, reflect and feel supported.

This support complements, and does not replace, hospice or palliative care. Cura provides non-medical care only.
