Independence, Connection, and Compassion: July with Cura

Happy 4th of July from Cura Home Care Services

As we welcome the heart of summer, July reminds us of warmth, freedom, and the power of community. At Cura, we are deeply grateful for the trust you place in us to care for your loved ones.

This month, we’re celebrating independenceconnection, and wellness – three pillars that shape how we serve every client.

Honoring Independence: A July 4th Reflection

As we gather to celebrate America’s Independence Day, we’re reminded of the value of personal freedom, especially for our seniors. At Cura, our mission is to support independence with dignity. Whether it’s helping with daily routines or providing companionship, we empower our clients to live life on their own terms.

Safety Tip: Fireworks can be overwhelming for seniors with dementia or sensory sensitivity. Consider earplugs, closed windows, and quiet indoor activities to ensure comfort during celebrations.

Caregiver Spotlight

This month, we proudly recognize Veronica Lewin, one of our dedicated caregivers whose compassion, reliability, and kindness brighten the lives of those she serves. Families consistently express how grateful they are for her consistent care and gentle spirit.

To all of our caregivers: Thank you. You are the heart of Cura.

Summer Wellness Tip

Hydration is crucial during hot summer days. Encourage your loved one to sip water throughout the day and enjoy hydrating snacks like cucumbers, watermelon, and berries.

If you notice signs of fatigue, confusion, or dizziness, it could be dehydration. Please let our care team know right away – we’re here to help.

Community Connection

Cura is proud to support Stamford Rotary’s July service projects and continues to build strong partnerships with local organizations. These collaborations help us connect our clients with even more opportunities for engagement, joy, and purpose.

We’re also thrilled to share that Shivonne Mathison, our CEO, has been inducted as the President of the Rotary Club of Stamford for the 2026 term. This honor reflects her commitment to service, leadership, and making a meaningful difference in our community – values that are dear to her heart.

The Rotary Club of Stamford promotes unity, inclusion, and community service—welcoming people of all backgrounds. Shivonne is honored to lead with these principles and looks forward to fostering even stronger community connections.

If you’d like to learn more about our community efforts—or how you can get involved—reach out anytime.

Thank you for letting us be part of your journey. Whether you’re a client, family member, or team member—your trust means everything to us.

Wishing you a safe, sunny, and joyful July!

Warmly,
The Cura Home Care Services Team
